Professional tennis returned in Australia on Saturday as the UTR Pro Tennis Series kicked off at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney with strict biosecurity protocols in place.

Top seed Christopher O’Connell cruised through his first round-robin match with Rinky Hijikata, Kody Pearson and Aleksandar Vukic also in winning form.

On the women’s side, Lisa Mays (NSW) and Alexandra Bozovic won their first round robin matches, with top seeds Abbie Myers and Ellen Perez commencing their campaigns tomorrow.

Melbourne and Brisbane UTR Pro Tennis Series begin on Monday, with Adelaide commencing on Sunday 5 July, and Perth on Tuesday 7 July.
