#NextGenATP US-American Jenson Brooksby kept up his winning ways on Wednesday, defeating No. 1 seed Thiago Seyboth Wild of Brazil in a second-round battle of the rising stars at the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger. The $52,080 ATP Challenger tournament is being held on clay at the Forestmeadows Tennis Center.
Less than 24 hours after dispatching compatriot Martin Damm, Brooksby hit Stadium Court with a tough test on his hands. The two players stayed on serve throughout the set, with 21-year-old Seyboth Wild saving four set points at 5-6. In the tie-break, it was Brooksby who had to save two sets points, before closing out the opening set 7-6(6).
In the second set, Brooksby was able to grab an early break and close out the match 7-6(6), 6-4 after two hours and six minutes. The 20-year-old California native comes into Tallahassee fresh off a championship run at the Orlando Open and earlier this year, he claimed the first ATP Challenger singles title of his career in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Next up, World No. 194 Brooksby takes on fellow-US-American Michael Mmoh for a spot in the semi-finals. Earlier in the day, Mmoh defeated Ryan Harrison from the United States 6-4, 6-3 to reach the stage of the last eight in Tallahassee for the second time. The two have never met before and will both be looking to reach the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger semi-finals for the first time in their careers.
Also advancing to the quarterfinals were Argentine Facundo Mena and Mikael Torpegaard from Denmark.
Action continues on Thursday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. local time with doubles play kicking off the day. The remaining second round singles matches will get underway later in the afternoon with No. 2 seed Denis Kudla taking on qualifier Alexander Ritschard in an all-US-American affair.
