2021 – 2022: A Look At The Past And The Near Future

Tennis

STARNBERG, February 28, 2022

It is the most popular racket sport in the world involving great individuals. It features men and women in different categories who sometimes come together to play mixed doubles matches. Singles matches are the most common, but there comes a time when doubles- men, women, or mixed tournaments take center stage.

Like every other sport, tennis has a series that include different tennis courts like the hard court-not famous today-and the two most famous courts, grass, and clay. Also, the events take place in various parts of the world, the US Open, Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon are the major events. These are places where great players are born or become breakthroughs for most successful tennis players.

It is because the venues offer large sums for winners and great exposure. This is where new up-coming players show their capability and promise an enthralling future for tennis. Though most young players fall short of titles due to the current dominant players, they promise the future of tennis is still in safe hands.

The Tennis series offers a lot to the players and missing even a single event hurts the players. Apart from the additional titles in their cabinets, the matches determine the players’ rankings as per results which is the most important to every tennis player. The ATP and WTA rankings offer more than pride to the players. The high-ranked players will never go to any play-off on any tennis court.

Let us have a recap of last year’s tennis events that amazed the world and changed the perception of many.

Recap of the last year

2021 produced mixed reactions and results in the sport. It also led to future speculations of who will be regarded as the greatest male tennis player when the current top players, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer retire. They all hold no advantage over the other with a record 20 Grand Slams each. Who will be the record holder? Only time will tell.

Djokovic was arguably the most successful player last year by reaching the four Grand Slam finals and losing one, the U.S Open to Daniil Medvedev. However, younger players proved ready to step up in the events.

In the four finals, none involved two among the top three players. Djokovic beat Medvedev to claim the Australian Open, beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Roland Garros final, and defeated Mateo Berrettini in the Wimbledon final.

In short, what I am trying to say is last year unfolded a new era in tennis where younger players with agility promise a lot in the future. This is evident in the WTA where younger players like Garbine Muguruza, Aryna Sabalenka, Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, Iga Swiatek, and Anett Kontaveit showed why tennis will be a sport to pay attention to in the future.

Younger players have produced master class performances in the recent past in tennis while still having plenty of room to improve.

Now that the season has started and one Grand Slam has passed, what lies ahead for tennis fans? Various events will offer a glamorous experience for players and fans soon. It is even better now that tennis is included in the gamble online sportsbook reviews. Below is a list.

Final words

Tennis is gaining more popularity than any other sport. There has been a lot to play for in the past, but now there is much to play for. With the rivalry growing stronger among players, the sport gets livelier than before.

The younger push their peers harder, while the peers show their experience making the sport more interesting to follow.
