LA QUINTA, California/STARNBERG, March 6, 2025
The two-day 21st annual Desert Smash charity pickleball and tennis event concluded on Tuesday at La Quinta Resort and an all-star line-up featured World No. 1 on the WTA Tour Aryna Sabalenka, Qinwen Zheng, Ons Jabeur and ATP Tour stars led by World No. 2 Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Matteo Berrettini.
Zverev played with award-winning singer Pink in a friendly doubles contest and said afterwards: “It was great to be part of Desert Smash for the second time. Such a fun event where celebrities and tennis players unite for a good cause.
“It was really cool to have Pink in the event and to team up with her in some intense doubles action.”
After his Desert Smash debut, Zverev will next compete in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, the first ATP Masters 1000 event of the season. Following a first-round bye, the 27-year-old German will face the winner of the encounter between Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor and Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia.
For 20 years, Desert Smash has proudly raised millions of dollars for charitable causes, which can be greatly attributed to celebrities and tennis professionals who generously donate their time and participation in the name of philanthropy. Notable past participants include Charlize Theron, Will Ferrell, Justin Bieber, Kevin Hart, Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Casper Ruud, Emma Raducanu, among others.
