HAMBURG/STARNBERG, March 6, 2025
With less than three months to go until the highly anticipated Hamburg Open, excitement continues to build for the ATP 500 event at the Rothenbaum Tennis Complex, taking place from May 17 to May 24. Adding to the anticipation, Stefanos Tsitsipas has confirmed his participation, joining an already world-class field.
The Greek star will compete alongside Top 10 player Andrey Rublev, French showman Gael Monfils, Germany’s No. 2 Jan-Lennard Struff, and Danish star Holger Rune.
Tsitsipas arrives in Hamburg in top form
Tsitsipas enters the tournament with strong momentum, having just claimed victory at the Dubai Championships last week—his first ATP 500 title. In the final, he overcame Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in an impressive performance. His triumph in Dubai also marks his return to the Top 10, where he now holds the World No. 9 ranking.
For Tsitsipas, returning to Hamburg is a special occasion. He first won over the Rothenbaum crowd in 2020, where his aggressive and fearless play made him a fan favorite. That year, he reached the final before being narrowly defeated by Andrey Rublev. In 2021, he advanced to the quarterfinals.
“I have very good memories of Hamburg. The fans welcomed me with open arms a few years ago,” said Tsitsipas. “It was amazing to feel that energy right from the start. It felt like I was playing at home. That’s why I’m so excited to return this year.”
Hamburg Open Tournament Director Enric Molina Mur expressed his excitement about Tsitsipas’ return: “We are thrilled to confirm the participation of Stefanos Tsitsipas, another Top 10 player with incredible talent and charisma. His victory in Dubai last week proves that he is in top form, and we are excited to see him compete at Rothenbaum alongside other tennis stars. Our fans know just how electrifying Stefanos can be on the court, and we can’t wait to watch him in action.”
Hamburg Open returns just before Roland Garros
The Hamburg Open 2025 will take place just one week before the French Open, offering players a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their clay-court game ahead of Roland Garros, which begins on May 25.
Tickets for the tournament are now on sale via the official Hamburg Open website. Fans eager to witness world-class tennis in one of the sport’s most historic venues should secure their seats as soon as possible.
