Jacq And Luz Claim Doubles Title At Challenger Murcia

Frenchman Gregorie Jacq and Brazilian Orlando Luz captured the doubles title of the Challenger Costa Calida Region de Murcia hosted by the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919. The duo defeated Jesper de Jong and Mats Hermans in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday.

The top seeds of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court tournament capitalized on all of their three break-point chances to prevail after one hour and six minutes.

By winning their first team title, Jacq and Luz split 4,540 in prize money and earned 75 ATP Doubles Ranking points.

Earlier in the day, Spaniard Carlos Taberner secured his spot in the singles final after a hard-fought 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory over Kimmer Coppejans from Belgium.

Taberner withstood four aces and broke his rival four times to advance in two hours and 44 minutes.

Meanwhile, second seed Jesper de Jong from the Netherlands defeated Ivan Gakhov of Russia with a commanding 7-5, 6-1 win. The World No. 105 from Haarlem won 59 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 22 minutes.
