Pruchya Isaro and Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha were crowned doubles champions at the II Open Menorca ATP Challenger 100 after defeating Siddhant Banthia of India and Russian Alexander Donski 6-3, 7-6(3) on Centre Court at Club Tenis Ciutadella on Saturday.

The Thai-Indian pairing maintained the high level they had shown throughout the week. They built their success around a strong serve, landing 67 per cent of their first serves and winning 78 per cent of those points. Overall, they controlled the majority of the rallies and finished the match with 63 of the 118 total points played.

After taking the opening set, Isaro and Kaliyanda Poonacha had to withstand a response from Banthia and Donski in the second. The match eventually came down to a tie-break, where the champions were more composed in the key moments and sealed the title after one hour and 20 minutes.

The victory capped a superb run in Menorca for Isaro and Kaliyanda Poonacha, who had already eliminated top seeds Patrick Kielan and Adil Kalyanpur Natarajan in the round of 16.

Earlier in the day, the eventual champions had reached the final with an emphatic 6-3, 6-1 victory over Denys Molchanov and Takeru Watanabe in just 56 minutes. They held every service game, winning 85 per cent of points behind their first serve and converting five of their eight break-point chances.

By winning their third ATP Challenger team title, their second of the season following their triumph in Chennai, India, Isaro and Kaliyanda Poonacha split €7,220 in prize money and earned 100 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
