Following 12 triumphs on the ITF World Tennis Tour, Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo finally claimed his first ATP Challenger crown. The 27-year-old Spaniard lifted the trophy of the Ostra Group Open By Porsche Servisni Centrum Ostrava.
Sanchez Izquirdo defeated No. 6 seed Zdenek Kolar from the Czech Republic 6-4, 7-6(4) in Sunday’s singles final. The world No. 293, who entered the main draw of the clay-court event in Ostrava as an alternate, capitalized on both of his two break-point opportunities and won 53 per cent of the total points played to prevail after one hour and 49 minutes.

Sanchez Izquierdo booked his place in the championship match with wins over local wild card Maxim Mrva, No. 8 seed Vialiy Sachko from Ukraine, top seed Dalibor Svrcina of the Czech Republic and Germany’s Tom Gentzsch.
The Barcelona native earned €15,510 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.
The 23rd edition of the Ostra Group Open By Porsche Servisni Centrum Ostrava was hosted by the Ostra Sport Centrum and offered a total prize pool of €97,640.
