BORDEAUX/STARNBERG, May 17, 2026
The 2026 edition of the BNP Paribas Primrose Bordeaux came to a memorable conclusion on Sunday with a final day dedicated entirely to the championship matches at Villa Primrose. After a week of high-level tennis and demanding battles on the Bordeaux clay, fans packed the Pvtistes Central Court for the final chapter of this ATP Challenger 175 tournament.
The spotlight fell on the singles final between Juan Manuel Cerundolo and Raphael Collignon, who had recently become a member of Villa Primrose.
Cerundolo arrived in the final after an outstanding week on his preferred surface. The 24-year-old Argentine impressed throughout the tournament with his consistency from the baseline, physical intensity and ability to control rallies, defeating several major contenders including No. 5 seed Roman Andres Burruchaga and home favourite Quentin Halys.
Across the net stood Collignon, one of the breakout performers of the season. The Belgian No. 8 seed had earned the support of the Bordeaux crowd thanks to his composed mentality, clean ball-striking and particularly effective two-handed backhand. After overcoming Tallon Griekspoor in a high-quality semifinal, the 24-year-old entered the championship match full of confidence.
The final delivered a spectacular ending to the tournament in front of a packed and energetic crowd.
From the opening games, Cerundolo attempted to dictate play with his trademark movement and consistency from the baseline, extending rallies and trying to force errors from his opponent. Collignon responded aggressively, striking the ball with precision and raising his level during the key moments of the first set. The Belgian’s aggressive shot-making eventually earned him the opener 7-5.
Cerundolo answered emphatically at the start of the second set. Finding greater depth and intensity in his groundstrokes, the Argentine gradually took control of the rallies and pushed Collignon further behind the baseline. Once in rhythm, Cerundolo dominated the set 6-1 to force a decider.
The third set produced a dramatic finish worthy of the occasion. Both players held serve under immense pressure, engaging in long and physically demanding exchanges that kept the crowd fully invested until a deciding tie-break.
There, Cerundolo showed exceptional composure. In one of the defining moments of the final, the Argentine produced a brilliant lob during a tense rally to move ahead 6-4 in the breaker, bringing the Bordeaux crowd to its feet. Moments later, Cerundolo sealed a thrilling victory after two hours and 37 minutes and lifted the BNP Paribas Primrose Bordeaux 2026 trophy to a standing ovation.

“I am very happy to win the title here in Bordeaux. It was an amazing match and a great battle,” Cerundolo stated afterwards.
With the triumph, Cerundolo writes his name into the history of the tournament and succeeds Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard on the honor roll of champions.
The world No. 72 captured his 12th ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first of the season and earned €43,635 in prize money as well as 175 ATP Ranking points.
