Andrey Kuznetsov remains unstoppable on the ATP Challenger Tour, celebrating his eighth consecutive match win to reach the semi-finals of the € 42,500 event in Como.
The second-seeded Russian defeated Spanish qualifier Carlos Gómez-Herrera, who appeared in his first Challenger quarterfinals match since 2013. Kuznetsov won 76% of his first service points and converted six of his 19 break points to seal a 7-6, 6-2 victory in one hour and 33 minutes.
The world number 90 from Tula will take on Pedro Cachin next. The 20-year-old Argentine knocked out seventh seed Andrej Martin, winning 2-6, 7-6, 6-3. Cachin saved five of the ten break points he faced and capitalized on five of his own to prevail in two hours and 29 minutes.
Third seed Carlos Berlocq was in total control beating Andrea Arnaboldi 6-0, 6-1. The 32-year-old Argentine fired six aces and won 86% of his first service points to advance to the semi-finals after one hour and 11 minutes.
Berlocq will take on Daniel Brands next. The world number 211 from Germany overcame eighth seed Roberto Carballés-Baena, winning 7-5, 7-6. Brands saved four his five break points he faced and capitalized on two of his own to close the match after one hour and 41 minutes.
