BIBERACH, December 12, 2017
The main draw ceremony for the German National Tennis Championships, held at the WTB indoor tennis centre in Biberach an der Riß from 10-17 December, has been made inside Biberach’s town hall on Monday afternoon.
The men’s draw is led by World No. 90 Maximiliam Marterer. The 22-year-old Nuremberg native, who finished runner-up to Michael Berrer last year, will step into action after a first round bye to face the winner of the encounter between Rene Schulte and Dominik Bartels.
Second seed Yannick Hanfmann awaits either Michel Dornbusch or a qualifier for his opening match in the second round.
Zaja Withdraws
Tamara Korpatsch is the top seed of the women’s draw. The 22-year-old will open her title bid after a first round bye against either teenager Shaline-Doreen Pipa from Hannover or a qualifier.
Second favourite Anna Zaja from Mengen was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an ankle injury. “She would have also liked to defend her mixed title from the previous year together with Yannick Maden,” tournament director Rolf Schmid told.
2014 champion Antonia Lottner will now be the tournament’s number two facing the winner of the match between Janna Hildebrand and a qualifier.
Main draw action will get underway on Tuesday.
