Top seed John Millman is the champion of the fifth edition of the €127,000 Open du Pays d’Aix. The World No. 70 emerged victorious from the all-Australian-affair with Bernard Tomic 6-1, 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Due to ongoing rainfall the final was played indoors on hard court and Millman seemed to feel comfortable with the conditions, winning 77 per cent of his first service points. The 28-year-old from Brisbane broke his opponent, who appeared in his first title match since Acapulco 2016, four times to finish the encounter in only 48 minutes.

“It’s always great for us players to play in Southern France. It is very special to play in front of such a fantastic tennis crowd, which was extremely supportive,” Millman told during his on-court speech and thanked all the organizers and helpers for their great job throughout the week.

By lifting his second ATP Challenger trophy of the season, Millman takes away €18,290 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points. He reaches a career high World No. 58 and will next travel to Heilbronn, leading the field of the Neckarcup.
