STARNBERG, October 8, 2018
As the Rolex Shanghai Masters celebrates its 10th anniversary, defending champion Roger Federer leads the field at the penultimate ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event of the season. But Federer, a two-time champion in Shanghai, will be severely tested if he wants to lift the trophy once more, with seven of the Top 10 players in the ATP Rankings in the draw.
Second seed Novak Djokovic will be going for his fourth Shanghai title. The US Open champion shares the bottom half of the draw with Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and Kevin Anderson. In the top half, Federer will be challenged by a series of in-form stars. Beijing finalist Juan Martin del Potro, Tokyo runner-up Kei Nishikori and St. Petersburg winner Dominic Thiem all occupy the same half of the draw as the Swiss.
